The National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) is located at the northern tip of Taiwan. Her campus is close to the deep ocean and has an excellent geographical location for the development of marine-related research. NTOU has a history of 68 years and is the highest institution of marine-related education and research in Taiwan. It is also an international top marine institution of higher learning with the most complete marine characteristics in the world.  

Given the rapid growth of the global population and the dwindling land resources, people have turned their attention to the ocean, from which asking for food, energy, and space. Therefore, the production and utilization of marine biological resources have become an important trend in the development of science and technology. However, the uncertainty of climate change affects the current status and future sustainable development characteristics of marine biological resources. How to use the existing basic knowledge of the marine environment and biological ecology, and furthermore apply it to the maintenance and conservation of the marine environment and marine organisms to achieve resource ecological sustainability is an urgent task at present.

The International Master Program in Marine Biotechnology and Environmental Ecology Sustainability integrates the faculty and teaching resources of "College of Life Sciences " and "College of Marine Science and Resource", and provides multiple options of English-language courses under the diverse research themes of each department, committed to the research of reasonable development and utilization of marine resources, as well as the use of biotechnology genetic breeding, increasing food production, improving food utilization, developing healthy food, developing natural medicines and other added value, while developing the prosperity, still do not forget the mission to ensure the endless ocean resources and sustainable environment and ecology.
