Guidelines regarding Faculty Employment of International Master Program in Marine Biotechnology and Environmental Ecology Sustainability, College of Life Sciences, National Taiwan Ocean University

Article 1 The program stipulates the Guidelines regarding Faculty Employment of the International Master Program in Marine Biotechnology and Environmental Ecology Sustainability in accordance with the Regulations on the Employment of Educational Personnel, and the School’s Employment Guidelines Regarding Faculty. (hereinafter referred to as the “Guidelines”).
Article 2 The term "faculty" in these guidelines refers to full-time (project), part-time, guest faculty, or faculty who are allowed to teach in this course according to other guidelines.
Article 3 The program must apply for posts within the prescribed allotted time. After approval, select for an appointment or apply publicly, and enclosed with materials listed in Article 4 of the School’s Employment Guidelines Regarding Faculty and other relevant materials shall be submitted to the Program “New Faculty Evaluation Committee” for review.
The number of members of the " New Faculty Evaluation Committee " shall not be less than five. In addition to the course director as an ex officio member, according to the expertise of the new faculty, more than four program internal and external scholars and experts with professor qualifications shall be invited to form a committee. Program external members in related fields shall account for at least one-third, and shall not evaluate the faculty at a higher level while they are at a lowe level.
Article 4 The members of the " New Faculty Evaluation Committee " shall be recommended by the Program Meeting.
Article 5 The review procedures for the new Program faculty members are as follows:
1. Candidates approved by a majority of votes of attended three-quarters of all members of the " New Faculty Evaluation Committee " will be submitted to the Program evaluation committee for preliminary review. Qualified candidates should be submitted to the College evaluation committee for the second review, and to the School evaluation committee for final review.
2. The first review must be attended by at least two-thirds of the members of the Faculty Evaluation Committee of the department before it can be discussed. If two-thirds of the total number of present members agree, it will be passed.
3. When the proposal is voted on, the number of people withdrawn shall be deducted from the calculation.
Article 6 The scoring standards for papers and writings of candidate faculty, and the scoring guidelines for each rank review shall be in accordance with the Guidelines regarding Faculty Employment of the College of Life Sciences.
Article 7 The Program evaluation committee shall consider the following matters when reviewing the application for new faculty members:
1. The academic experience of the new faculty members.
2. The academic ability of the new faculty members.
3. The teaching ability of the new faculty members.
4. Contributions of the new faculty members to this program.
5. The character of the new faculty members.
The Program evaluation committee may invite new faculty members to give academic lectures and receive necessary inquiries and understanding.
Article 8 The unapproved application by the Program evaluation committee, the parties shall be written notified or by email within ten days.
Article 9 If there are any matters not covered in the Guidelines, please follow the School's relevant guidelines.
Article 10 The Guidelines become effective after it is approved by the Program Meeting and ratified by the College Faculty Evaluation Committee.
(In case of any discrepancy between the Chinese version and the English version, the Chinese language version shall prevail.)
