Guidelines for the Establishment of Faculty Evaluation Committee of International Master Program in Marine Biotechnology and Environmental Ecology Sustainability, College of Life Sciences, National Taiwan Ocean University

Article 1 To ensure the quality of faculty members and the rights and interests of faculty members, the Faculty Evaluation Committee of the International Master’s Degree Program in Marine Biotechnology and Environmental Ecology Sustainability (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) is established according to the Establishment of the Faculty Evaluation Committee of National Taiwan Ocean University and formulate these guidelines.

Article 2 The committee is comprised as follows:Chairperson:

  1.               The chairperson shall be concurrently served by the Program director; if the director of the program is the referee or is unable to attend due to certain circumstances, other members shall elect one of them to serve as the chairperson. 
  2.               Other committee members: Selected from full-time faculty members of the Program and joint faculty members with qualifications of associate professor or above.

Article 3 This committee considers the following matters:

  1.               Matters of the appointment, appointment period, promotion, secondment, dismissal, suspension, non-renewal, and reasons for dismissal of faculty members, etc.
  2.               Matters of the seniority of the lecturer or above in private institutions at home and abroad and the salary scale.
  3.               Matters of the review of faculty members' extension of service and reappointment.
  4.               Matters of faculty members lecturing abroad, research, and advanced studies.
  5.               Matters of professors' leave research.
  6.                Matters of academic research.
  7.                Matters of faculty evaluation and review.
  8.               Recommendations for the nomination of chair professors and honorary professors.
  9.               Other matters that should be reviewed (evaluated) according to laws and regulations. Guidelines for the review of matters related to the preceding paragraph shall be stipulated separately.

Article 4 Meetings of the committee are held irregularly, and convened by the chairman. At least twothirds of the members must be present before the meeting can be held. The matters in subparagraphs 1 to 3 of paragraph 1 of Article 3 are subject to the consent of two-thirds of the members present; other matters shall be carried out with the consent of one-half of the members present.

Article 5 If necessary, relevant personnel may be invited to attend the Meeting for explanatory information. If the review proposal involves the member himself or his spouse or blood relatives or relatives within the third degree of the relationship, or if there are provisions that should be avoided under academic ethics and other regulations, the parties should withdraw. The Committee shall start ex officio to order those who do not voluntarily withdraw or apply for withdrawal. When the proposal is voted on, the number of people withdrawn shall be deducted from the calculation.

Article 6 The Guidelines become effective after it is approved by the Program Meeting and ratified by the College Faculty Evaluation Committee.

(In case of any discrepancy between the Chinese version and the English version, the Chinese language version shall prevail.)
